Press release: SF Hash Week onboards tourists, locals to legal lounges, pot concentrates
JUNE 17, 2025 | SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco is exactly three weeks away from its second annual SF Hash Week. Weekly and daily print, broadcast, and digital features writers are invited to preview the heady, clicky, only-in-SF event for their audiences today.
The future continues to happen in SF first with SF Hash Week 2025 July 8-14, activating legal lounges for tourists and experienced stoners alike.
Even though San Francisco has offered about 10 legal weed bars since 2018, it’s still day one for millions of visitors and veteran smokers visiting lounges, said SF Hash Week organizer David Downs.
“We’re in one of the few places on Earth for locally approved smoke spots, and only half of smokers shop legal,” said Downs, an award-winning weed journalist and best-selling author.
2025’s hash technology also blows most minds. The festival highlights handheld, miniaturized, electronic hash ovens like the Dr. Dabber Switch2 and Puffco Proxy. Live rosin all-in-one vapes activated with your breath have taken off.
“This isn’t your dad’s hashish from the Fillmore,” said Downs. “Although we have some of that, too.”
The SF Hash Week main schedule with most pre-orders have gone live. Call or email the David Downs Presents team to set up preview coverage for your newscast, radio feature, or blog. Hashmakers, retailers and experts are standing by for interviews.
SF Hash Week works just like Beer Week or Restaurant Week. It’s a week-long, citywide celebration of a regional specialty. Each night features a drop party—like a record release party, but for a rockstar hashmaker. Food, art, music, and education envelope the celebration. Over 45 hashmakers, lounges, and other brands participate in the summer series. Participants include Raw Garden, 710 Labs, Kalya, Kiva-Lost Farm, Nasha, Harry Rose, and Fire King.

Expect all kinds of new, limited-edition exclusive release marijuana concentrates like bubble hash, pressed hashish, live rosin, vape pens, edibles, drinks, and all the latest devices.

Summer hash trends for your audience:
- No new taxes—California lawmakers approved a pause to tax hikes on the growing industry. Due to state over-regulation, less than half of smokers shop legal.
- Carts catching up to flower—Vaporizer cartridges now rank second in sales behind flower buds
- Beyond butane—The hash world is going ‘solventless.’ So-called rosin and live rosin extracts are made with just ice, water, filters, heat, and pressure. They can cost as much per gram as gold.
- And Emerald Age—Marijuana and its concentrates have never been cheaper, more pure, potent, diverse, or accessible, experts like Ian Skelly, co-founder of 710 Labs said.
“You’re really taking in the essence of the plant in every way,” Skelly said.
