Overview
Hemp legalization has supercharged the seed and clone scene in America—as seeds and clones contain less than 0.3% THC and are not controlled.
Simultaneously, more states allow more adults to grow personal amounts of cannabis than at any other time in human history. Twenty-four states now allow home cultivation. Cultivating cannabis is legal in California for adults 21 and older who are allowed to grow up to six plants per property. Most recently, the state of Ohio began its legal program with adults able to grow up to 12 plants.
The 2nd annual Terpnami provides San Francisco-Bay Area, California—and indeed growers across the world—an essential, consumer-facing experience in early December with unmatched accessibility.

Tickets are $5 and will go to $10 soon. Over 650 RSVPs have already been snatched up.
The two-day showcase carries on the tradition of post-harvest seed shows in northern California, inspired by events like the original Emerald Cups, and the ongoing Ego Clash series.
Cultivators big and small from all over the world come to San Francisco in December to obtain the latest, most high-yield, high potency, high-flavor cannabis genetics on the planet.
The San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California is the global epicenter of cannabis genetics—the home of Girl Scout Cookies, Sunset Sherbert, Gelato, Zkittlez and so many more winners of the modern era.
The entire $120 billion culture starts from genetics, said David Downs, the event organizer and an award-winning journalist and best-selling co-author of “Marijuana Harvest” with Ed Rosenthal.
“This event spotlights the most important thing in cannabis, the genetics,” said Downs, based in San Francisco. “We’re living in an Emerald Age for the plant.”

- Terpnami is draped in cannabis music, clothing, books, food, and culture—with a retro sci-fi/anime/rave aesthetic.
- You can expect custom clothing collaborations including a beanie, and a t-shirt. Stickers for Terpnami will be made by Sticker Farmer, and come out this fall.
- DJs will spin dubby, spacey, electronic music and more. Pre-parties and after-parties will bookend the event.

You can combine Terpnami with the best of San Francisco-Bay Area food and entertainment. Early December is a mild and affordable, off-season time to visit. Industry folks combine Terpnami with a stop at MJ BizCon during the week prior in Las Vegas, and a trip up to the invitation-only Ego Clash.
Pre-party Dec. 5 at Moe Greens Lounge—a drop party for Moon Valley 6-star full-melt, Umma Sonoma Blue Lobster, Trap brand, Dr. Dabber, and more. RSVP here to receive pre-party updates. (Purchase required to enter lounge.)

David Downs Presents
Terpnami is produced and presented by David Downs Presents, an independent team led by Downs, with art from Conor Buckley, technology from Keith Woody, and exhibition design from Eric Lister. Sabrina Pacheco is Terpnami’s sales liaison.

David Downs Presents’ mission is to support a thriving and exemplary City of San Francisco-Bay Area- and California cannabis culture. David Downs’s Presents crested SF’s hit 4/20 week of weed events series dubbed SF Space Walk, as well as SF Hash Week during the week of July 10 ‘Oil Day.’
Terpnami’s origin story
Terpnami began in 2024 after the success of SF weed week—now called SF Space Walk—as well as SF Hash Week. The genetics-focused Terpnami completes an annual, seasonal cycle of Bay Area cannabis cultural celebrations segemented by flower, extracts, and genetics, respectively.

Downs said that as the spirit of cannabis liberation has spread outward from San Francisco over the decades, it’s important to keep the culture alive where it started.
“The legalization that was birthed in the Bay Area has now swept the globe, with places like Germany going fully legal and reaping the benefits of the dangerous and selfless work that began here in the Bay,” he said. “We have to keep the beacon lit here at home as well.”
